limits.conf for audio group doesn't apply to users in the audio group?

In the default /etc/security/limits.conf, there are the following lines:

*               -       rtprio          0
*               -       nice            0
@audio          -       rtprio          65
@audio          -       nice           -10
@audio          -       memlock         40000

I'm in the audio group, so why am i not limited to 40000 KB of memory?

Oops. ulimit -a shows that it *does* apply
and locked memory doesn't mean used memory, so everything is working as expected.

haha.

Are you sure that "rtprio" and "nice" options apply? If you don't comment or delete the first two lines you should get messages like "could not lock memory" in qjackctl, for example. At least that was what happened to me.
