Re: [Solved]:No sound after updates!

I'm having the same problem. Sound worked last night after some updates...fails today after some more updates.
This is true with multiple players (mplayer/audacious/vlc).
I don't even get the beep I usually get when I shutdown.

Here are the updates that you and I have in common.

upgraded db (4.8.24-1 -> 4.8.26-1)
upgraded gzip (1.3.13-1 -> 1.4-1)
upgraded tzdata (2009t-1 -> 2010a-1)
upgraded bluez (4.59-1 -> 4.60-1)
upgraded file (5.03-2 -> 5.04-1)
upgraded kernel26-firmware (2.6.32.4-1 -> 2.6.32.5-1)
upgraded kernel26 (2.6.32.4-1 -> 2.6.32.5-1)
upgraded pciutils (3.1.4-1 -> 3.1.5-1)
upgraded util-linux-ng (2.16.2-1 -> 2.17-1)
upgraded xz-utils (4.999.9beta-1 -> 4.999.9beta-2)
upgraded python (2.6.4-1 -> 2.6.4-2)
upgraded dcron (3.2-4 -> 4.4-1)

Figured more information wouldn't hurt.
[edit]: Forgot to mention, this occurs on an Acer Aspire One.

Re: [Solved]:No sound after updates!

My sound works now...not sure what happened. Essentially I left the computer alone for around 12 hours and now my sound is back, including after reboots, where before I would still have no sound.

Re: [Solved]:No sound after updates!

The problem I've had with the xine engine is that it tends to default to my USB headphones, while everything else uses the onboard sound. So if I want to use flash, for instance, I have to unplug the headphones and reboot. sad

In my case xine has absolutely nothing to do with it...its not installed, nor do I use usb headphones (I like my Shures tongue).

So I'm still at a loss as to why it died in the first place.

Re: [Solved]:No sound after updates!

Problem solved!Maybe it's not caused by the update...But the sound did stop working after update!I just reconfiged the/etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf and /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf ,and my sound comes back!
