mysql help

I had mysql working good well...but for some reason it would let me do anything when I tried today.  I can not use "mysql -u root' and can not login using phpadmin either.  I do not get error messages either so I don't know what the problem might be.   I remember typing in FLUSH PRIVILEGES once the other day...maybe that might be the problem...

Re: mysql help

do you not need the mysql daemon loaded first?

as root: /etc/rc.d/mysqld start

Then things should be as normal. You may wish to put this daemon in your rc.conf to ensure it gets loaded every time you boot up.

Re: mysql help

also if you've upgraded mysql recently it will overrite /etc/my.cnf unless you've added it to NoUpgrade in /etc/pacman.conf. So you may have to comment skip-networking again.
