Applications need restart to recognize new (wireless) connections

Whenever I suspend my computer or for some other reason switch wireless networks, Checkgmail, Opera and Spotify (Wine) need to be restarted before they recognize the new connection.

I'm using NetworkManager and nm-applet for network management atm, does anyone know a solution?
