Re: 2010.02-1 archboot "2k10-R1" ISO hybrid image

As archboot is a live cd, you can install the package you need just with pacman -S ntfs-3g. The only thing you need is the Extra repo enabled in /etc/pacman.conf

Edit: if you still get that error, do pacman -Syy and try again. This will refresh the package database.

OK, I got by.

After choosing packets, I added extra repo to pacman.conf and synced it again, after that, it was able to download ntfs-3g.
I don't know, why it so suddenly became required.

Re: 2010.02-1 archboot "2k10-R1" ISO hybrid image

meijin, what do you mean it doesn't continue booting?

connexion2000, sounds like you are using ftp install method package is in packages.txt and on mounted image file.
I don't give any warranty on ftp installs. ntfs-3g is automatically added if you have any ntfs detectable partition by blkid.

It could be vbox-specific. I get the same result as meijin in vbox, but not booting from a dd'd usb drive.

Re: 2010.02-1 archboot "2k10-R1" ISO hybrid image

tom you get any log from vc12? it makes me wonder why it gets stuck.
You could also start with break=y and try to debug dmesg ouput.
There you can also start rpcbind from and look if something is shown to debug.

And as usual virtualized bootup may be broken by virtualisation app too sad

Re: 2010.02-1 archboot "2k10-R1" ISO hybrid image

Output from vc12 immediately after rpcbind start is

kernel: NET: Registered protocol family 10
lo: Disabled Privacy Extensions

10 is IPv6, which is disabled on the host. Maybe that's the issue?

Re: 2010.02-1 archboot "2k10-R1" ISO hybrid image

It is the actual release 2010.02-1 of the archboot iso.
What archboot is is stated in the announcement, it has nothing to do with the official iso, which uses archiso creation tool.

Re: 2010.02-1 archboot "2k10-R1" ISO hybrid image

Re the rpcbind/ipv6/whatever issue, archboot works as expected in virtualbox when I select the lts kernel instead of the standard one. meijin, could you try that too?

IPv6 support on the host does not seem to matter - I enabled it, and it still failed at the same point with the stock kernel.

The official media cannot serve all needs, as archboot cannot serve all needs, pick the one you can use best.

Hrm interesting sounds more like an kernel issue then, does it work in an installed system with kernel 2.6.32?

Re: 2010.02-1 archboot "2k10-R1" ISO hybrid image

I am working with 2.26.32, and i downloaded rpcbind just for you:

[root@laptop ~]# /etc/rc.d/rpcbind start
:: Starting rpcbind                                                      [DONE]

looks good for me...

Re: 2010.02-1 archboot "2k10-R1" ISO hybrid image

@tpowa, why you don't put the USB image in FTP? I don't have a x86_64 to build an raw USB image... sad

<update>
Ok, I just read the page:

- Can be raw-written to a drive using 'dd' or similar utilities.

But when I try to boot in USB I get a message saying "syslinux.bin corrupt" or something similar...
</update>
