WOW....awesome...breathtaking....finally KDE web is like KDE 4 - cool & modern...I think I will like this :-)

Does any of you use PIM applications? Do they work? Especially IMAP and calendar, I need them and without it KDE is useless for me...for now I'm using 4.3.98 and I don't even have enough time to test the new snapshots at all...I will have to set up a virtualbox image to test it...:/
The trunk version of KDE PIM does not work. It was announced on a blog and in the mailing list. Everyone is supposed to compile the 4.4 branch for now.

mutlu_inek: thanks for the information, I should maybe start reading at least the blog :-)
4.4.63 was released now, but I just finished .62 yesterday so I will skip the .63 release...hope you don't mind (and if you do, build it yourself :-) )

I should take that as a cue to say that I've been building from KDE svn with Dan's version of the KDE PKGBUILDs and scripts, on Arch64 with testing repo enabled, with a reasonable amount of success since 4.4.61.
I started by building the kde-qt version of qt-4.6.1 from the extra subfolder with a checkout from gitorious, as well as the development versions of sip, qscintilla and pyqt. In order to avoid that annoying unixodbc and iodbc conflict, I've been building against libiodbc. It seems to work. Every few days I do a git pull for kde-qt and Dan's scripts to keep things up to date.
The biggest change I've made is to re-unify all of kdebase under one build. It makes perfect sense to separate kdebase-runtime and kdebase-workspace when we build from separate tarballs, but when doing a svn checkout we end up checking out and then throwing away the entire runtime and workspace directories when building kdebase. I've been rebuilding every few days and felt too guilty wasting bandwidth so I reuinified kdebase and the attendant checkout instead. I still build separate packages for runtime, workspace and the apps, of course.
It all seems to work, except that kdeedu stopped building a few days ago and kdepim just stopped building last night. KDE 4.4.6x seems to be more or less functional - kdemail being a notable exception. I understand all of kdepim will be useless for a while.
My thanks go to Dan and the Arch KDE devs for all your work -- not to mention the upstream KDE devs themselves who are STILL taking a lot of heat from people about KDE 4.x in general, as anyone who reads slashdot can attest.

Hello gun26,
would you mind sharing the checkout scripts with unified kdebase? Also if you think that something could be packaged/built better, please share your ideas! Thank you!

Hi Dan, I just sent you email with the files I've changed attached. I should have mentioned above that in addition to building against libiodbc I'm also using virtuoso 6. Dunno if this causes extra breakage or not. Also unlike most Arch people I actually like pulseaudio so I'm trying to build with support for it enabled. Colin Guthrie, the Mandriva KDE maintainer, has apparently done a lot of work to integrate pulseaudio into KDE but I'm not seeing it in what I'm building. It would be nice to have a kmix that has the same functionality as pavucontrol.

Hi everybody!
The 4.4.64 release is in repos now and is waiting for your pacmans to download it.
News: kdebindings does not contain csharp (fails to build at 99% ) and kdebase-kinfocenter was removed and it's now part of kdebase-workspace.
Also I finally set up a VirtualBox image for testing the snapshots and I'm curious to see how far developers got with the port of KDE PIM :-)

linopolus: upps, my mistake...policykit is now polkit. I fixed the deps and reuploaded kdesupport-polkit-qt. It should be OK now.

Why isn't kde-snapshots built against Qt 4.6.2 yet? The new version is in [extra] already.
Offline
No particular reason, I simply forgot about the update. Next release will be build against Qt from [extra].

Problem started with display manager swap (kdm => slim). I forgot to start kde with ck-launch-session. Now everything is ok.

Updated to KDE 4.4.65svn1095507
KDE is now built against Qt from [extra] (thanks to laochailan for pointing it out). I also reviewed kde-snapshots-extra and removed packages that are already in [extra] in the same version.
For next release I plan to rebuild Nepomuk against Virtuoso 6.1.0 to be on the same wave with KDE 4.4.0. :-)

Could you change the kde-snapshots.db.tar.gz file for 4.4.65svn (i686). Thank you .cheers

It's already there since Friday :-)

New snapshots just arrived into the repo. 4.4.66 is ready.

Next time post error message in English please, not everyone speaks French (at least it looks like French to me :-) ). As far as I can understand it, libpolkit-dbus.so is missing. On my system this library is owned by policykit but this packages does not exist anymore I will take a look on it and let you know if I find out something :-)
Btw KDM is not working for me too, but it does not output nothing relevant (it does not output nothing at all) that I could use to find the problem.
EDIT1: Problem found :-) I still have policykit installed in my build chroots so KDE is compiled with support for Policykit-Dbus...I already removed it and now I'm checking for packages that are compiled with it to rebuild them.

and the remaining piece in French (I don't know why it is in french) :

So I rebuild kdebase-workspace without support for obsoleted policykit. The PolicyKit now disappeared from system settings. As I found in Arch ML that it's considered as a dead project and will not be supported and used anymore.
Btw - the error message itself is in French because it's generated by glibc (or something like that) which is set on French on your PC while the rest of the message is generated by KDE

thanks for corrections and explanations.
