Hi!
Due to my hd crash I want to make a big dd to my NAS. So I really rely on a fast dd. (~900 GB)
I could borrow a gigabit switch but unfortunately the speed doesn't stay at about 40 MB/s as in the beginning. (It dropped already to 17 MB/s in less than one hour...)
I'm doing this with ubuntu because X crashes on boot with the current packages of arch. I'd like to know if it is worth to try it with arch before I try it. But the best would be some easy and well working advice. ![]()

With dd_rhelp the problem is solved. ![]()
EDIT: ddrescue is the better way to go.
