Ive been trying to figure out CUPS so i can utilize my Print Server integrated into my Buffalo Linkstation Quad.
Now, when i browse my NAS on my laptop in XP, it just has a little lp shortcut that you double click, easy peasy (i dont use windows on any other computer.)
Arch/Linux However, Not so easy. I cant seem to figure out how to get to my print server/lp from CUPS/SMB/Arch. If anyone can link me to a guide of some sort (ive only found guides where you have another actual computer as the print server so far) Id be happy. Or someone just telling me where im messing up or if its even possible (i dont see why it wouldnt be).
Ive tried everything in my knowledge and ive come to the infine power that is, the Arch Linux forums
NAS model/make: Buffalo Linkstation Quad (LS-QL)
Full network is GBit
Printer = HP DeskJet 1500 Series: 1560
anything else you need just ask
edit:

If I'm not mistaken, you'd need to connect to the print server via SMB ( as opposed to lpd, http, etc. ) for that model Buffalo. If you haven't read it already, the Arch CUPs wiki is a good place to start :
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cups
Specifically the "between Gnu/Linux and Windows" section :
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cup … nd_Windows
I used that as a guide to setup printing to my network print server - not a Buffalo, but generally the same, and it worked just fine.

SMB worked fine, hadnt though of using SMB before.
