I have a WNDA3100 (atheros based). I followed the "Standard network daemon" instruction under "Automatic setup" in the Wireless Setup guide.
I ran in to the "Could not associate $1 - try increasing WIRELESS_TIMEOUT and check network is WEP or has no security" message, as described by http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/11273
I fixed this by adding a line "/sbin/dhcpcd ${1}" in my /etc/rc.d/network, somewhat similar to what John (CapnJB) did (his fix didn't work for me).
I am still a newbie, this seems to work, will it come back and bite me later? This problem has been a pretty common, based on my googling. Should I reopen 11273? Should I file a new bug? Should the wireless setup guide documentation be changed?
This is probably a really stupid question, but if the manual setup works for everyone, and the script in /etc/rc.d/network does not work consistently, why not just change the script to do what is in the manual setup?
