SOCKS proxy in google chrome
I am not sure that this is the right section but anyway.
I was unable to set a proxy for chrome without gnome or kde.
I tried setting the socks_server and socks_version but with no success.
I also have the need to exclude certain hostss from the proxy, will the no_proxy variable work?

This thread has your answer, I believe. It's been working that way for me for quite awhile now. I have a little script that sets those variables and then launches chromium 
Not sure about your no_proxy question, though.
