Something like network manager for ratpoison?

Hy there
I would like to use ratpoison but I don't know how to connect to the net .
I use networkmanager for gnome and everything works ok
but when i switch to ratpoison I type

sudo /etc/rc.d/networkmanager start

it confirms me that it starts but no connection at all .

So do I have to use something else instead of networkmanager for ratpoison?

here is some of my configuration in case there is something wrong with my configuration

modules

MODULES=(lib80211_crypt_tkip wl !b43 !ssb vboxdrv)

networking

eth0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(eth0 wlan0)
WIRED_INTERFACE="eth0"
WIRELESS_INTERFACE="wlan0"

Thanks in advance

It doesn't matter what WM you're using for networkmanager to work, just follow the instructions from the wiki.
However you will need to have a system tray/notification area for the applet to work, or find some other interfaces.
A CLI interface is supposed to be added into vanilla very soon, but you can maybe use cnetworkmanager.

You could also try wicd, which is very nice and comes with an ncurses interface.
