Wireless barely works after update

I am running Arch on a Thinkpad X61, 2 Gb memory, 100 Gb 7200 rpm disk. It is set up dual-boot with Windows XP (out of necessity, not choice, believe me).

The machine mostly sits in a dock with a wired connection to my LAN (Netgear Ethernet switch, SMC router/wireless access point). But I also sometimes remove it from the dock and use it wirelessly in the house. Network addresses are acquired via dhcp from the SMC (which also serves as a NAT router), but they are reserved, so I can set up an /etc/hosts file. Wireless is WPA-encrypted. I use netcfg to set up either wired or wireless network access, using the menu option at boot time.

Until last night, this all worked fine, and has for some time. Last night, I did a full system update and now wireless barely works. By "barely", I mean *extremely* slowly. Bits trickle in, but at a snail's pace. The update involved a new kernel, so I tried booting the old kernel -- no luck, same symptom.

Wired networking works normally.

I will provide the update log below. If anyone has any bright ideas, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

/Don Allen

Re: Wireless barely works after update

Yes, I saw it. Thanks. I'm pretty sure I had the same problem. I solved it by replacing Arch. I'm tired of the problems with the rolling updates -- I've had too many. I need thoroughly QA'ed software that will create fewer sys-admin headaches for me and if that means running stuff that's more than 15 minutes old, fine. I'd rather spend my time *using* my computers, as opposed to fixing them.
