Re: Gnome 2.30 is in the repos... tips/tricks/issues?

I can't upgrade atk and gtk2 packages.

error:  transaction failed (conflicting files)
atk: /usr/share/gir-1.0/Atk-1.0.gir exists in filesystem
gtk2: /usr/share/gir-1.0/Gdk-2.0.gir exists in filesystem
gtk2: /usr/share/gir-1.0/GdkPixbuf-2.0.gir exists in filesystem
gtk2: /usr/share/gir-1.0/Gtk-2.0.gir exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, none of the files were upgraded.

I've translated text from Polish, so it may vary from original output in English.

Any ideas? Is it safe to do pacman -Suf?

Looks like nautilus-actions doesn't work.

pacman -Qo  /usr/share/gir-1.0/Atk-1.0.gir

if nothing owned that package is better to delete them and do pacman -Su but never do -f along with -u

Re: Gnome 2.30 is in the repos... tips/tricks/issues?

I use the compiz autostart with .desktop file and some keys in gconf and it doesn't start with gnome 2.30...[wiki]

I solved changing this line:

Exec=compiz

with this:

Exec=/usr/bin/compiz ccp --indirect-rendering

in the /usr/share/applications/compiz.desktop

Re: Gnome 2.30 is in the repos... tips/tricks/issues?

The keyboard indicator automatically appeared in my notification area, but is completely useless.
I have a USA qwerty and a USA dvorak layout, which are both presented as "USA". My Scroll Lock led is configured to be a real layout indicator. Is there a way to hide the keyboard indicator from the notification area?

Furthermore I am not too happy (yet) with the new icons.

Re: Gnome 2.30 is in the repos... tips/tricks/issues?

I also have some issues with samba shares. I have mounted some folders from a NAS box through /etc/fstab. This box is not the fastest but I always had ~6MB/s when moving files with nautilus. Since upgrading to Gnome 2.30 I only have ~2MB/s. If i use cp from the commandline or rsync I have ~6MB/s again.

fstab looks like this

//192.168.1.254/somefolder /media/somefolder cifs credentials=/path/to/credentials/.credentialsfile,iocharset=utf8,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0

Anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Gnome 2.30 is in the repos... tips/tricks/issues?

I noticed that gnome-icon-theme does not contain any svg icons and misses some important hi-res pngs. Since I use gnome-do (which seems to use 128x128 pix) many icons now look very blurred. In particular, I miss a hi-res icon of "system-run.png", only 48x48 is provided.

gnome-terminal segfaults with transparency enabled, but this also is a problem with lxterminal and roxterm. Maybe a vte issue?
This is on compiz.

Otherwise I don't see any problems.

Re: Gnome 2.30 is in the repos... tips/tricks/issues?

I can't get different wallpaper on my two screens anymore.  I have an ATI card doing dual screen with xrandr.  I solved it previously by making a wallpaper that was twice the width of one of my screens.  Half showed up on the left hand screen and half on the right hand screen.

Now I get the same image duplicated on both displays... sad

Re: Gnome 2.30 is in the repos... tips/tricks/issues?

Left or right clicking on the default desktop icons results in a redraw of the icons and nothing else, also if right clicking there is no context menu appearing either. By default icons I mean Computer, Home, Drives and Wastebasket.

Icons from files, folders and shortcuts I've put onto the desktop work as before.
