Re: Cannot sync with some groups

try pacman -Sy packagename
likely you just need to refresh your package list

Re: Cannot sync with some groups

network and office are not package groups ... not in the same way as gnome and kde anyway.

Re: Cannot sync with some groups

Ah that would explain it.  Why is it though on the repository on the main site it labels them with network, office, multimedia when only ones like gnome and base can be installed?

Haha this thing is puzzling.

Re: Cannot sync with some groups

You have to search around for office apps and networks packages of your choice to work with gnome, there are several.
office:

network:

To get a list of available groups:

pacman -Sg

Re: Cannot sync with some groups

Furthermore, I suggest to read the pacman man pages.  It will give you more information about what pacman can do.

There are grouipings to make it easier to look for specific items. The reason you can't install things like network or office as a group, for example, is that there are apps within the group which may conflict. With gnome and kde they   contain all the necessary packages need to run gnome or kde properly. It is easier to install gnome or kde with groups than trying to figure out which individual package(s) that you would need to instal to trigger the base gnome or kde install.

The rest of the groups are organized into "groups" to make easier to find certain applications.
