Wifi kaput after latest full upgrade [SOLVED]

Hi Guys,

I am starting a new thread on another Wifi issue as my issue is slightly different to the other threads,

If I try to connect with Wicd, It "looks" like it has connected ok, I get indications of full signal strength and ifconfig shows wlan0 with an IP.
however even though it has got an IP via dhcp, I cannot even ping the AP?? yet alone the external network. The route/gateway looks ok
with "route -n"

If I try with Network Manager, it doesn't even get an IP.

Has anyone had any sucess getting wireless up and running with a recent upgrade?

PS: I am using WPA/WPA2 encryption.

Thanks,
B

You have not specified the wifi chipset and driver that you are using.

Re: Wifi kaput after latest full upgrade [SOLVED]

True, and the mystery is solved.

My Wifi driver is using the RT2860 chipset, it seems other modules were being loaded instead. I blacklisted them
(rt2800pci, rt2800lib, rt2x00pci, rt2x00usb) and all is good ..

Cheers,
Marking as solved.
