Re: Is there any way to improve flash fullscreen performance?

This was the very comic that inspired Con Kolivas to write the BFS. Try it yourself from AUR
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32877
and see if it helped to watch youtube fullscreen videos.

That's probably why, 64bit flash for me has always been crap in Linux. I have no problem with it in Windows, and 32bit for me in Linux was fair in terms of playback.

64-bit flash is crap on any OS (in my experience)
Then again, flash itself is crap, so what can you expect?

I don't have much to add, except that I find it frustrating that my 1.6 GHz Pentium M on my toughbook struggles with flash. Fullscreen is still a pipedream.

Yes html5 video should run faster but as mentioned in the previous page only the chrome browser supports it due to codec licensing issues.

Surprisingly, in Uzbl, Flash performance is much smoother (compared to say, Chromium). Anyone know why?

Re: Is there any way to improve flash fullscreen performance?

Now i can add: Flash at 1080P plays GOOD on my Arch system.

Until about 1 week ago all i had was an old 17" CRT so i could never really test Flash.
But now got me HTPC working and tested the link provided by Demian to a good quality video,
and it works just fine. Software: Arch, nvidia driver, compiz fusion, firefox, flash.
Hardware: Asus mobo Nvidia 8200, AMD Athlon XII 250, 2 GB Ram
and display is  . . . .  my new 37" / 94 cm Sony 37ex402.
internet speed is quite good.
