sda1 device not found during initrd phase... [solved]

I have bricked my dedicated server at ovh using archlinux by doing an upgrade and then rebooting...

Here's what happens (I am using the vKVM OVH boot option "from disk" which gives me some insight on the boot process as if I was at the console):

kernel loads
initrd initializes
finally, the error:

mount: mounting /dev/sda1 on /new_root failed: No such device
ERROR: Failed to mount the real root device.

If I do a manual mount, I get the same error, if I hit dmesg, I clearly see the kernel has detected sda: sda1 sda2 sda3

Any help highly appreciated!

EDIT: I solved the problem by using kernel26-fallback.img as the initrd...
