Driver issues w/ NetGear MA311 wireless PCI card (hostap/orinoco)

I noticed that Udev is loading too many modules for this card. It actulally runs with both loaded. I tested blacklisting the hostap modules first and the card comes up as eth0 and runs. Slow...but it runs. Then I blacklisted the orinoco modules and tried it. Oddly it creates two interfaces, wlan0 and wifi0. From my googling I get the impression that the hostap modules are the better choice...but I can't get the interface up with them loaded.

Any ideas? Tips on getting this card tuned up right?
