wireles network problem

hi
I have a problem setting up my RALINK rt73 USB wireles adapter network, I've already done

#ifconfig wlan0 up

#iwlist wlan0 scan

# iwconfig wlan0 essid "ZONA Jukanovici 1" key s:mypass   

ends with: error error for wireless request  "Set encode" (8b2a)
SET failed on device wlan0 ; invalide argument.

Could you post the output from:

ifconfig
iwconfig
iwlist scan

and the exact error from the console.

That way I would help you with this issue.

You also need firmware - did you install it? See the rt2x00 section in the wiki's wireless page.

yes i have the firmware that s not the truble...

Im out for the weekend and only have my windows laptop on me. My guess is a problem with the arguments on iwconfig. They seem alright but it appears as if the program doesn't like it. Assuming you have been posting to the internet you can access it another way?
if so try updating your system.

If it still doesn't work, in the mean time I would recomend using tools like [wiki]wicd[/wiki] to automate this process. wicd has a CLI so even if you don't have a DE it will work.
