(Wiki Updated) Ranger Wiki needs an update?

I am a newbie, and I am trying to configure the Ranger file manager. I have installed it and attempted to follow the wiki:

After startup, Ranger creates a directory ~/.ranger/. You can copy any of the files from /usr/share/ranger/ranger/defaults/ to ~/.ranger/

However /usr/share/ranger/ranger/defaults/ doesn't appear to exist on my machine. I have looked around for the config files but I can't seem to find them. Is this problem on my end or has the package changed since the wiki was made?

Re: (Wiki Updated) Ranger Wiki needs an update?

look for the said files under /usr/share/ranger or any of the sub-folders within.

If you do find them, in some other location, feel free to update the wiki.

btw. I installed ranger a last night and it seemed pretty nice. I haven't played much with it, but I hope to later tonight after work. I also wanted to change it a bit by having its configs sit under .config/ranger instead of ~/.ranger

Re: (Wiki Updated) Ranger Wiki needs an update?

I found the defaults, for me they were inside:

/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ranger/defaults

I am not sure if it will be the same for everyone, but I installed last night and that is where they were. mad

I thought I wouldn't like a console based file manager, but I really like this one.

I tend to mostly use cli - ls la rm mv etc. But i installed this for kicks.

Would rather not use qtfm or any other heavier fm. I still keep pcmanfm around if I ever need to use a GUI based fm

Re: (Wiki Updated) Ranger Wiki needs an update?

I want to use ranger only but still a little afraid. I think i need to learn a lot more before i can do that. I really like it so far.

The keybinding isn't working yet but i am working on it. I installed on my laptop and the directory was the same as above. I installed from the aur.

Sorry for any grammar or spelling, I am on my mobile smile

Re: (Wiki Updated) Ranger Wiki needs an update?

Hi, I'm the author of ranger. And yes, the directory has moved to /usr/lib/<your-python-version>/site-packages/ranger/. I updated the wiki page, thanks for pointing it out.
Btw, if you have problems with your configuration, here's a thread where you can ask questions: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=93025
