ath5k channel 13

after adding options cfg80211 ieee_regdom="EU" to /etc/modprobe.d/cfg80211.conf it still cannot find my access point on channel 13 . output from iwlist wlan0 f is:

          Channel 01 : 2.412 GHz
          Channel 02 : 2.417 GHz
          Channel 03 : 2.422 GHz
          Channel 04 : 2.427 GHz
          Channel 05 : 2.432 GHz
          Channel 06 : 2.437 GHz
          Channel 07 : 2.442 GHz
          Channel 08 : 2.447 GHz
          Channel 09 : 2.452 GHz
          Channel 10 : 2.457 GHz
          Channel 11 : 2.462 GHz

what else  do I need to configure to enable channel 13?

Re: ath5k channel 13

Which module are you using?  Also, did you try to set the country code manually with modprobe to see if that works?

Re: ath5k channel 13

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wir … ther_Notes
It's the forth bullet down where it mentions the Intel Wifi 5100, it works with ath5k too, you probably need to configure the correct regulatory domain for the crda package, if you haven't installed it already.

pacman -S crda

then edit /etc/conf.d/wireless-regdom by uncommenting the line for your regulatory domain.  I didn't see "EU" as an option in /etc/conf.d/wireless-regdom, choose your country code within the EU if it's there.  After you edit wireless-regdom execute '/etc/rc.d/wireless-regdom start' then 'iwlist wlan0 f' again to see if it recognizes chan 13.  If that works for you then add wireless-regdom to your daemons array in your /etc/rc.conf, I think you have to add it to your daemons array to activate it when your computer restarts again.  If you do it this way I don't think you need a cfg80211.conf file

Re: ath5k channel 13

Thanks sparchy,

1) pacman -S crda
2) vi /etc/conf.d/wireless-regdom
removed the # b4
WIRELESS_REGDOM="CH"
3) /etc/rc.d/wireless-regdom start
4) iwlist wlan0 f
wlan0     11 channels in total; available frequencies :
          Channel 01 : 2.412 GHz
          Channel 02 : 2.417 GHz
          Channel 03 : 2.422 GHz
          Channel 04 : 2.427 GHz
          Channel 05 : 2.432 GHz
          Channel 06 : 2.437 GHz
          Channel 07 : 2.442 GHz
          Channel 08 : 2.447 GHz
          Channel 09 : 2.452 GHz
          Channel 10 : 2.457 GHz
          Channel 11 : 2.462 GHz
          Current Frequency=2.432 GHz (Channel 5)

Re: ath5k channel 13

On nearly all other GNU Linux distros this is not a problem. Anyone else?
