Hey guys i got arch linux down finally , but i am going to reinstall it to better optimize it. but i haev a problem, i wanna make a /boot, /swap,/var,/root and /home to better optimize my system. but i can only make 4 out of the 5 when i partition my drives in the installer , have can i make all five of the partitions [sda1,sda2,sda3,sda4 and sda5] which will be /root, /boot, etc. when i try to make more then 4 it does not allow me, how can i make a 5th one so i can make the five?

You can make 4 primary partitions. But if you make one of those 4 to be an extended partition, there is no limit to how many partitions you can have. (well there might be limit..I am not a 100% on it) but you will be able to make enough partitions for your needs.

I don't think you need to set any boot flags like you have to in Windows.

There is a limit of usually 64, sometimes 16 partitions, and other limits can be observed. It depends on your OS, the type of disk, partitioning scheme, etc.

It depends on your bios, for instance on Macbooks you do need to flag it bootable or else EFI can't find it. It's usually best to set it just in case.
