[Solved] Two Problems

Hi.

I've recently just finished getting Arch set up with KDE and Nvidia drivers, so I have display and basic compiz working. There's two problems though, I can't change the window default manager to Compiz, because for some reason Emerald doesn't load with it, so I have no window movement etc etc.

The second problem relates somehow to Gnome, I think it's using Metacity or something other then KDE. For example, look at my firefox browser. You'll notice the top (where the bookmarks etc are) have sort of a Windows 98 Style to them..

Where as compared to Konqueror. I've checked in style settings, and everything is set to the default KDE things.

I have a feeling if I can get Compiz + Emerald working alright, then I suppose both the errors will be fixed.. but for now it's annoying me. Any help would be great.

Re: [Solved] Two Problems

There's always problems in look and feel when using gtk apps in KDE or qt apps in Gnome. But there are options available.

Search the aur and you should find some packages which make the icons look seamless.

I didn't think that Firefox was a GTK app? On fedora KDE it works fine.. nothing shows up as a GTK app.

Re: [Solved] Two Problems

In my KDE days, I used a Firefox theme that was made to seamlessly integrate Firefox into KDE. I believe it's called "Oxygen KDE". A quick search on the mozilla add-on page should find it smile That was just for people wanting to know.

Re: [Solved] Two Problems

Thanks!
I managed to just use the default compiz that comes with the Desktop Effecst package in KDE, along with that Oxygen KDE Theme to get it the way I want. Instead of using Compiz and Emerald I'm just using a engine that is like emerald that works with KWin. Thanks everyone. smile
