Hi
I'm running virtualbox, arch (in its "bare-bones" variant) is guest, windows xp is host and even though I have a perfect internet connection on the host machine, I can't even get to update the packages on the guest system.
Some research showed that I can ping anything by its IP, for example I can't ping yahoo.com (unknown host) but I can ping 98.137.149.56 (to which yahoo.com resolves). Seems there's some problem with DNS configuration. I added 10.0.2.3 to my /etc/resolv.conf.head, but with no success. Can anyone help me with this?

The problem got solved by randomly trying this:
VBoxManage modifyvm "My VM" --natdnsproxy1 onwhich enables the "DNS proxy" in NAT mode. Not sure what happened, I'd still like to know why this worked ![]()
