Hi there
After todays update to the new official NVIDIA Driver, 256.35, 3D in WINE is completely broken and no game work anymore. (bin32-wine with lib32-nvidia-utils)
Terminal output:
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x82cf5203 at address 0x7dc645f6 (thread 0023), starting debugger...
I wonder whats wrong here as people report games working with this driver version at wine's appdb.

Same here, when I downgrade it works.
Hope it can be solved soon for everyone

Same problem here...maybe we just have to wait for wine to catch up to the new numbering system? (My version number jumped from 195xxx -> 256xxx)
EDIT: I should remark that I use Arch 86_64, and that WINE (not CHROOT wine, but lib32 wine) works well if I downgrade nvidia and nvidia-utils.

Its probably a packaging issue. I re-installed nvidia 256.35 + nvidia-utils from extra but not lib32-nvidia-utils. Instead i used lib-32-nvidia-utils-beta from the aur (256.35 as well) and that one works.
[2010-06-25 16:21] upgraded nvidia-utils (195.36.31-1 -> 256.35-4)
[2010-06-25 16:21] upgraded nvidia (195.36.31-1 -> 256.35-1)
[2010-06-25 16:27] installed lib32-nvidia-utils-beta (256.35-1)
There are also comments about the segfaults with 32bit opengl:

You guys should think about filing a bug report for lib32-nvidia-utils then.

I confirm the issue.

With the new lib32-nvidia-utils (x-4), I've always got this issue.

Does the latest aur build not work for you ? According to the comments the segfault issue was fixed on June, 19.

I've started the install via AUR, will give news as soon as possible.
I was talking about the new release in the repos.
Edit : Ok, solved with lib32-nvidia-utils-beta from AUR.
Thanks :-)

Also confirming the issue. Upgraded to new Nvidia driver and now Doom 3 segfaults. Using 32-bit libs on a 64-bit system.

anyone who have this issue can send me a patch for PKGBUILD to fix the community package?

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

offtopic, but how come nvidia made such a big version number leap..?

Latest package, lib32-nvidia-utils-256.25-4 still has this problem, beta from AUR doesn't. I would post a bug on flyspray, but someone has a similiar enough problem I didn't want to get bit for "double-posting" link: http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19978

Fixed with latest lib32-nvidia-utils 256.35-5 package, thanks a lot.

Did anyone try the *again* new package ? (lib32-nvidia-utils 256.35-5)
Edit : Damned, just a little too late :-)

Hmmm... did anyone actually try to _display_ some OpenGL content in a 32-bit app using the -5 lib32 package?
Earlier revisions than -5 crashed for me when starting Second Life. The -5 revision does not crash, yes - but OpenGL is not accelerated either. o.O
Anyone else having this problem?
(Oh and yes, the lib32-nvidia-utils-beta package from AUR works perfectly for me.)

Hmm...everything seems to be fine here with -5.
The only game I play in wine is EVE Online...I'm not sure how to check if OpenGL is being used. As far as I can tell, everything is working normally since -5.
Thanks for the new package ;-)

Version 5 of lib32-nvidia-utils solves everything here too.
Thanks a lot!

Yes, it is pretty much working perfectly. I just wanted to take a moment to thank the Arch Linux team for the amazing (what was this? Less than 4-5 hours) response and fix time.
Again, another reason why Arch is so freaking awesome. Amazing. Great job.

Yeah, I totally agree.
I tried some distros, Arch is really *THE* better, like said above, Arch is "freaking awesome" !!! (I'm french, it's the first time I read that, but it's very simple to understand )
I'll stay on Arch Linux forever, on all my PCs.
Thanks to all
