Must manually run net-rename each boot

My desktop machine has two Ethernet ports, and I'm using net-rename to avoid udev switching eth0 and eth1 (which was previously happening).

I have setup /etc/iftab with eth0 and eth1 with the correct mac address and have added net-rename to my daemons:

DAEMONS=(syslog-ng net-rename network rpcbind nfs-common @netfs crond hal dbus kdm @oss quassel)

Sometimes when my box starts up, I am left with eth1 and eth2, but if I then run "/etc/rc.d/net-rename start" then I get the correct eth0/eth1 configuration, and network and netfs will work.

Is there an ordering problem with my daemons line?

I don't know what net-rename is and what it does - or does not apparently.
