[SOLVED] wicd link state (ethtool permissions??)

Long ago, wicd worked great at detecting my wired link state.  Now it does not (yes of course I have checked the box to detect and always switch on link up).  I've tried using ethtool and mii-tool with no luck.  I've also tried setting the sticky bit on ethtool (because normal users can't check link state using ethtool) with no luck.  Note that wicd works perfectly other than autodetecting the link.  Also, it actually knows when the cable is disconnected it just doesn't do anything when it is connected.  The wicd log doesn't flicker when it is connected either so I don't have much debugging to go on.

Any ideas are helpful.

Re: [SOLVED] wicd link state (ethtool permissions??)

I created a new wired profile and set as default.  This seemed to fix the problem.
