Problems with the sound

Hi
I just installed a little Arch Linux with the fluxbox WM (and I am loving it ). The problem I am trying to solve at the moment is the following:
I can not play music or any other kind of sound mp3 booster says this:

Failed to open sound device.

Ok now I was googleing around and found this Thread:

But when I tryed to use amixer I said that amixer does not exist. So I installed alsa-utils now amixer exists but still does not work.
Now it says that:

Unable to find simple control 'Maser',0

I hope that someone can help me...
