Wireless card will not associate

I'm having the hardest time getting getting my Intel wifi 6200 card to associate to my wifi network. Can anyone lend me a hand?

Here's what I know:

-The card is recognized just fine

# lspci | grep Net
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation WiFi Link 6000 Series (rev 35)

-The correct firmware is loaded

# dmesg | grep firmware
iwlagn 0000:03:00.0: loaded firmware version 9.221.4.1 build 25532

-the modules are loaded

#lsmod | grep iwlagn
iwlagn 293999 0
iwlcore 122129 1 iwlagn
mac80211 189270 2 iwlagn, iwlcore
cfg80211 144199 3 iwlagn, iwlcore, mac80211

-the card is enabled

#rfkill list wlan
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
    Soft blocked: no
    Hard blocked: no

-the interface is up

#ifconfig wlan0
wlan0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:23:14:XX:XX:XX
              UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
              RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
              TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
              collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
              RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)

-the card can scan and sees my network

#iwlist
cell 01 - Address: 00:23:69:XX:XX:XX
channel:3
Frequency:2.422 GHz (Channel 3)
Quality=70/70  Signal level=-25dBm
Encryption key:off
essid:"Angie's Network"
Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s;
            24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s;
Bit Rates:6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 48 Mb/s
Mode Master
...

-assigning settings with iwconfig appears to work

#iwconfig wlan0 essid "Angie's Network"
#iwconfig wlan0 ap 00:23:69:XX:XX:XX
#iwconfig wlan0
wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:"Angie's Network"
              Mode:Managed Frequency:2.422 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
              Tx-Power=15 dBm
              Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
              Encryption key:off
              Power Management:off

-As you can see the access point is showing as 'Not-Associated' checking dmesg reveals

#dmesg | tail
ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is not ready
wlan0: direct probe to 00:23:69:XX:XX:XX (try 1)
wlan0: direct probe to 00:23:69:XX:XX:XX (try 2)
wlan0: direct probe to 00:23:69:XX:XX:XX (try 3)
wlan0: direct probe to 00:23:69:XX:XX:XX timed out

(note MAC addresses are valid but have been edited out)

Anyone got any ideas for where to go from here?

Re: Wireless card will not associate

Turn off encryption at the router and try again - at least that way you isolate whether encryption is the problem or not.

Re: Wireless card will not associate

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the network is open and has no encryption at all. Thanks for the suggestion though.
