No Media Keys, ATi Driver

Hi guys! I'm using a notebook from a Brazilian manufacturer (Philco PHN 15008) and I can't use the Fn Keys. The Play, Stop, Next and Previous buttons work, but the Fn + Fx don't.
Other problem is that the screen turns off after a few minutes, but I can't turn it on again. It only stays off. I move the mouse, type and everything, but the screen continue off.
And, will I have to reinstall the ATi driver every time I upgrade the kernel?

Bye!

Re: No Media Keys, ATi Driver

Its quite difficult to figure out if that particular manufacturer model is supported by linux for Fn keys. However, you might want to try out the few tips under Thinkpads which also make use of the Fn keys. If you are lucky the same thing might work for you as is, or with little customization.

Use a driver from the repo, and it will update in sync with the kernel automagically.

Re: No Media Keys, ATi Driver

I used acpi_listen and it don't recognize anyone of the Fn + Fx. A used xev and it didn't recognize either. The most strange is that the keys worked on Ubuntu.
