networkmanager's wifi auto-connect delay

Hello everyone. I'm new here so I am not sure if this question has been solved. Some time searching google gave me nothing so I came here.

I'm new to arch, and recently installed it on a cheap eee box. For networking, I'm using network manager, and it works fine except for a small issue. Whenever I bring the computer back up from sleep/standby (i.e. after leaving it unattended for a while) networkmanager takes about 10 seconds before it attemps to connect to my wifi (only auto-connect wifi, good connection strength). During these 10 seconds I can tell networkmanager to connect to the network manually, so it's not like the network is causing the delay. I also have the same "issue" on my netbook which runs ubuntu (and networkmanager) so it's not hardware/arch specifc. With all this in mind, I assume there is a networkmanager setting somewhere which causes the delay for whatever reason. Is this so? Has anyone else experienced the same delay and removed it?

Thanks in advance.
