Hi Archers
Got myself a wifi card today and i'm having trouble getting it to work... Been trying all day........ i've read the wiki etc..
Basically... I have a D-Link DWA-510 pci wifi card
It uses the Ralink chipset and from what I have read
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wir … tup#rt2x00
The correct driver to use is the rt2x00 module which is included in the Kernel
heres my rc.conf

as you can see i have the rt2x00pci module in rc.conf and I have blacklisted un needed modules from what I understand I need to do..............
iwconfig gives me this
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
wlan0 IEEE 802.11bg Mode:Managed Access Point: Not-Associated
Tx-Power=17 dBm
Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Power Management:off
When I boot into arch I do a
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwlist wlan0 scan
iwconfig wlan0 essid myessid (with my correct info)
iwconfig wlan0 ap mybssid (with my correct info)
and the connection always times out
Also... the wiki says that "linux-firmware" has the firmware i need for my chipset
hope thats enough info.........
any ideas?

Please, use [code ] tags for posting code snippets, configs etc.
Do it like this:
MODULES=(rt2x00pci lo!rt2400pci !rt2500pci !rt2500usb !rt61pci !rt73usb)
'lo!rt2400pci'?? What's that? :-) I think this one is not blacklisted (I don't know how important is that).

Yeah I realised I was missing a space after "lo" I'm not sure what lo is exactly or if i need it... but I keep seeing it in other peoples examples with my setup..... i've tried getting rid of it also and it doesn't affect anything........
still got the same issues......
my bad on the long paste..... oops

That module does not exist so removing it cannot affect anything except getting rid of the warning/error message about it during boot.

A shot in the dark, but when you say "the connection always times out" I assume you are running:
dhcpcd wlan0
and trying to obtain an IP address.

yep
tried that

Presumably there can be left some previous interface (for netcfg for example) autoloading on startup (maybe somewhere in rc.d). Me I had almost the same problem untill I removed interface from autoloading in rc.conf.
