berkeleydb primer

Can anyone point me to a resource on how to add records, delete records, view records, etc for a berkeleydb database from the command line?  I've found lots of info on programming for it, but not much on command line use.  I'm installing vsftpd, and can't figure out how to add and remove users to/from the database as I need to do that.
