what stage of installation are you at? do you get any errors? If so what are they ?
when you say some files are empty, what files are you talking about?
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

what stage? i just installed arch and then i started to install xorg. if i remove, reinstall or update xorg, i get:
/sbin/ldconfig: File /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 is empty, not checked. ...
there are many files like this. i reinstalled arch completly and i deleted even my partitions, but this did not help. i can reproduce this.
thx for your fast answer.
thx

Did you read the beginner's guide at http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide?
You need first to create your account, installing all drivers and just then configuring the Xorg.

Did you try switching mirrors? Maybe there's a problem with the mirror you're using...
