Hi there,
I had to disable user signatures due to massive abuse. I have also disabled the user search, profiles and info for guests. It seems still way to easy to register on this forums. Please report any suspicious post or user profile. Time to think about even more aggressive methods to keep idiots out.
Greetings,
Pierre

I don't see posters' post count and registration date. Not that I mind, I'm just reporting ;P
I did a check on other Arch forums and many already require registration to see the user info etc.

+1
I can confirm this.

I was just thinking to myself that users' posts seemed shorter or something.

Also, we used to be able to contact forum members through a "send email" link. This is also gone.
Edit: Post count is useful in determining whether someone is new around here or not. For example, if someone is a newbie people need to post step by step instructions to help them solve their problems.

This information is accessible through a user's full profile (click the name). A link to send email is there as well.

So, didn't make this clear. This is disabled __for now__. Means might come back once the spam issue is solved. Please be patient.

I'm just reporting, that's all. You mentioned disabling sigs, but maybe you didn't notice that some other things are gone too.
Take your time.

Post count is hardly an indicator to determine newbieness
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Thanks Pierre.

I'd use it the other way, when I see a 200+ post person posting newbie questions I tend to be more harsh than I would normally be. Its an indicator, but only a weak one, IMO.

Without post counts, new people may discover that I have no idea what I'm talking about. Something about 6500+ posts makes me seem like an expert... until the illusion dies a week later.

I'm actually appreciating the way threads look now. So clean and to the point. As far as i'm concerned, signatures and such may remain disabled.

You can disable displaying other peoples' sigs in your profile.

Signatures and user info are re-enabled for now. (This change will got active once the php processes have died; yes, there is some kind of miss-configuration ;-))

Uhm, maybe a bit of overkill but:
