Hey. So the other day I had to reinstall Pacman and it's deps as I screwed it up, and ever since it hasn't found any updated when I do a Pacman -Syu. I always get:
core is up to date
extra is up to date
community is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade...
there is nothing to do
It has been a couple of days and I should have updates by now, I've had them on my netbook.
Any suggestions?

Pick another mirror from https://www.archlinux.de/?page=MirrorStatus and put it on top of your list, run 'pacman -Syy' and try again.

Maybe you could try
pacman -Syyu

Your mirror is probably outdated. Try this and change your mirror:

This question appears so often - can we somehow place this under FAQ (or something like that).

It already *is* in the FAQ.

You are right, and I was a little bit too late to the party (as always).
So what do you suggest? A big, fat warning during installation? An additonal comment, which warns you to uncomment a specific mirror in the first place (this being the second-most frequently asked problem)?
That is kind of a philosophical problem, since AL always expects users to read the docu first.

Look, I'm nuts, I tend to read manuals / wikipedia articles for things like the microwave. That's why I'm not surprised when I put in a cold plate and take out ... a cold plate. Why isn't it noticeably warmer??
Read The Fine Manual and you too should be fine.

Search the forums. This has come up so many times, its not even funny anymore.

There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !
