KDE Ugly menu bar/ecliipse/chromium

I've recently switched from GNOME to KDE and it's been really great.  I've played around with all the settings but there's on thing that still nags me.  Every now and then I encounter an application or some aspect of an application that looks... ugly.  Ugly as in, black text on grey background (like MS 95).  Examples of this include Eclipse, and right-clicking a page in chromium.

Here's an example with Eclipse:

It's not a deal-breaker but It would be nice if someone knew why this happens and how I can fix it.

Cheers!

Re: KDE Ugly menu bar/ecliipse/chromium

Applications that use GTK, like Eclipse and Chromium, will use the default GTK theme if none is selected; switching from GNOME to KDE (and thus from primarily GTK to primarily Qt) probably removed your previously selected GTK theme.

You should install gtk-qt-engine from the extra repo to make your GTK programs match your Qt programs smile

Oooh. That makes perfect sense, and simultaneously clarifies what GTK does (I'm a noob).  Thanks! Super-helpful smile

No problem smile  Here's the Arch-wiki page describing how to go both GTK -> Qt and Qt -> GTK, for reference: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uni … plications

Don't forget to edit the title of the thread in the first post and add [SOLVED] wink
