Openbox New Install

Hi All, I've just installed Openbox on my machine and I'm quite impressed so far all I've used is Gnome. I'm looking to keep ubuntu with gnome and arch with openbox. Is there a way to remove gnome and all the extras that come with it? Also, I'm looking to install some gtk themes with lxappearance, which I understand involved unzipping tarballs in the .themes folder (I may have this wrong). But as I'd like to uninstall all my gnome stuff and start again and be light. Is there some other archive manager I need for this? I don't think I can install the gnome archive manager without it.

One last thing is the keybard maps and my mouse. For gnome I added a like like "Xkblayout" "en" to my 10-evdev file in etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ but when I did this for openbox the keyboard simply didn't want to work.  My mouse is also jumpier than usual, this time I didn't install the mouse driver as I was told evdev would take care of it without the need for another driver. The only settings I found for mouse so far have been for double click time in obconf.

If anyone could shed light on any of these issues I'd be very grateful, in the meantime I shall keep searching for a solution.

Thanks,
Ben.

Re: Openbox New Install

1. Removing gnome: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65269

2. Extracting tarballs: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … es#extract

3. Keyboard: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xmodmap - possibly, but without more of a description about what you are trying to do with the keymap, this will be a good start

4. Mouse: sorry, no idea...
