but anyway after looking for awhile then asking a friend to help search found a fix http://communities.vmware.com/message/1650169#1650169 scroll down to bottom of thread this thread can be locked now but if anyone else has the same issue there you go

thanks for posting this, I ran the referenced script yet for some reason still continue to have one issue with the 'Virtual ethernet' module ... I did update the Vmware:Talk page, but not the front page yet, as I still havingtrouble with Virtual ethernet. anyone else running into a similar issue and have a potential fix for kernel 2.6.36?

For me (Arch x64), the script fixed the problem.

things are working for me, had to uninstall and reinstall vmware afresh and ran the referenced script like so::
# vmware-installer --uninstall-component=vmware-workstation
# wget http://communities.vmware.com/servlet/JiveServlet/download/1650169-45603/vmmon_fix_2.6.36.sh
# sh ./vmmon_fix_2.6.36.sh
everythings a`working now, this corrected the virtual ethernet issue I was having --- thanks everyone!

Hi,
VMware has been Hell for me to install, even with the script above, i always get unable to install vmmon!!
Fresh install with kernel 2.6.36.2.1.... Cant get pass this....i have followed the wiki step by step but the result is always unable to install vmmon...
Update: Even if i launch vmware by itself always get unable to build kernel module..and yes i have the headers and gcc ofcourse.
