I use WPA encryption on the wifi at home, and the password is foobar.
The wifi is accessible on windows, but on arch, a strange thing keeps happening.
It always says connection failed: bad password
Any idea?

802.11i standard says that pass phrase should be between 8 and 63 characters. 'foobar' is 6 characters. I don't know, but maybe it could be a problem.

ok i just changed to a longer password, and it still didn't work
btw, i just found this:
Adding an additional WPA encrypted network can be achieved like so:
# wpa_passphrase additional_ssid "additional_passphrase" >> /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
What's this additional SSID? It seems that I couldn't find it in the router's web interface
(my router is linksys WRT54G2, anyway)

Well, I don't know the source of your problem, and I've never used wicd, so I couldn't really help much further, except to tell you to try to connect to your wireless network using only wpa_supplicant.
That said, you are reading incorrectly the thing about the 'additional SSID'. The quote says 'if you want to add an additional WPA encrypted network, ...'. In this case, 'additional_ssid' would refer to the SSID of the network you want to add to your 'list' of network.
