I had a few hours to mess around with gimp. i found that wallpaper in this thread somewhere and recolored it.

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

Well, I've been fooling around with fvwm since yesterday and I think I've fallen in love. I feel somewhat guilty since I've used xfce religiously since I started using linux but I just can't get over how much eye-candy there is for fvwm.. and how little resources it uses!

And yeah, this wallpaper is making like its third appearance in three pages. heh.

Looks good for only 1 day of messing around with it, i think at that point i had just gotten my title bars a different color than that pink from the default config.  I would say set up the focus, colormap, and window placement the same as xfce4, then you wont miss it as much.
thats what i had to do to make a permenant switch from fluxbox is make fvwm act just like a box, then go from there. anyways good luck.

Hi,

Can you tell us where you get this wallpaper? Also, can you share your xfwm config file? Is it adesklets on your screenshot?

Thanks !

Admittedly it was like 20 hours that I spent on it that day lol And there seem to be quite some good resources around for making a quick config file from other people's, so I certainly didn't create this from scratch - Tavis Ormandy's was especially helpful and the documentation on the website is great too. It still amazes me just how light and configurable fvwm is though. Thanks, I'm already feeling settled in..

The wallpaper can be found here. I'm not sure what a xfwm config file is but, as I said, this is fvwm. And that is the adesklets' Calendar desklet in the top right but the rest of it is fvwm stuff.

Whoah.

What happened to Afterstep, anyway? I thought it was dead... Looks a trillion times better than Windowmaker anyway.

Meh, I think WindowMaker is much better looking. Then again, I though NeXTStep was amazingly sexy.

Re: [CLOSED - SEE MONTHLY STICKIES] Arch Desktop Screenshots

Now that is ugly. Afterstep looks good though, with transparency...

(IMO NeXTStep-type WMs look thoroughly hideous without transparency.)

Nice screen Miqorz... Ya gotta love Clearlooks.

(Hey, I didn't know that that Google bomb still existed! lol )

Oh, and I shall now take back everything I said about XFCE being ugly...

Anyway, here's my screenshot:

Clearlooks-Bright with Milk-Chrome borders and Edge icons (which, for some reason, are not all being used).
