dm-crypt and 2048 bytes key?

In the wiki article about dm-crypt and luks a 2048-byte key is generated:

dd if=/dev/urandom of=secretkey bs=512 count=4

However, the recommended encryption aes-xts-plain can only cope with 256 and 512 bytes long keys. Why is the keyfile so large? Or am I seeing things wrong?
