Re: [Solved] can't start /arch/setup

are you using a cd or usb to boot up ?

did you follow the instructions completely when creating the bootable image ?

Re: [Solved] can't start /arch/setup

I'm using a CD-R burnt with K3B sha1 and md5 both checked out and yes I followed instructions, CD boots to the welcome message but as soon as I enter user name, root or arch I get a bash tty input/output error although it appears to log in, then when entering either km or /arch/setup I get the error message as in OP

Re: [Solved] can't start /arch/setup

Input/output error is probably caused by a corrupted install medium. You might try to verify the installation medium using some magic like:

dd if=/PATH/TO/CD bs=2048 | head -c `du -b /PATH/TO/ISO` | md5sum -

but it is probably easier to burn a new CD anyway smile

Verify install medium as suggested.  If you have to burn it again choose a low speed such as 4x because sometimes this can help and use k3b's verify data option.  Also try running the memory and cpu checks as well.  I've seen memory errors cause the sort or craziness you describe.  Is your CD drive itself in good working order?
