Hi,
I've a dual Arch 64b+KDE/Win7 64b PC, with both OSs updated one day ago.
The PC consists of a dual LAN Realtek RTL8111D LAN chips motherboard (Gigabyte GA 890FXA UD5 rev 2.0), and is connected to a router via either of the two wired LAN connections.
Arch uses KDE network manager.
To eliminate problems I've cold rebooted both the router and the PC (with the BIOS set to safe default mode).
Till this morning I could easily connect to the Ethernet from either OS.
This morning, while using Lightroom/Win7 to upload photos to Flickr, Lightroom crashed and lost net connection.
Ever since, even after reboot as described above, I can't gain net access from either OS (nor from some live Linux flavors booted from CD). I've eliminated a router/cable problem by connecting the same Ethernet cable to my netbook which connected immediately...
Trying to debug Arch (2.6.36 64b) I've found the following:
dmesg shows Arch loaded (twice) the r8169 module (although the MoBo chip is 81111D)
Toward the end, dmesg shows both eth0 eth1 down.
Needless to say, neither LAN port won't get an IP address from the router (although both and the router are configured for DHCP).
running modprobe -l | grep 8111 yields only a module nmaed i2c-am8111.ko (under /kernel/drivers/i2c/busses) which, judging from its location, doesn't seem to be net related.
During all the time the green LED (adjacent the the RJ45 connector) blinks slowly (about every 4 seconds).
My questions:
1. How do I regain net access?
2. Is the r8169 the right module for my hardware?

Solved!
Turned out to be a mechanical mismatch in both motherboard connectors.
Kernel LAN module is indeed r8169!
