Hi, just installed arch with kde desktop, i used a 190gb partition as mount point for /home, but with nothing on it but only some config files it takes up almost 10gb when i right click /home and select properties...
Why can this be? I went through all the folders and none of them uses up as much space.
Thanks and sorry for my english.

the filesystem does take some space.....but 10gb still seems a lot. Try running this command and it will list the top 10 memory hogs in your home.
Make sure you are in the /home folder when you run this.
du -cma * | sort -rn | head -10
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

[root@OtnielLaptop home]# du -cma * | sort -rn | head -10
729 total
729 otniel
626 otniel/.local/share
626 otniel/.local
487 otniel/.local/share/Trash/files
487 otniel/.local/share/Trash
140 otniel/.local/share/akonadi/db_data
140 otniel/.local/share/akonadi
118 otniel/.local/share/Trash/files/eclipse_1
115 otniel/.local/share/Trash/files/pokemon/eclipse
It says 6% is used, btw i don't remember where but i read about ext4 taking up 5 or 6 percent of the partition space... if that's the case then everythings fine, but still seems like a ridicously big amount of space and can't imagine how much this would take on big partitions.
Edit:
Bingo! http://blog.flexion.org/index.php/2010/ … pace-ext4/ as i said the measure is just ridiculous.

Or maybe it's some leftover data, like otniel/.local/share/Trash/files/pokemon/eclipse.
Doesn't look like "some config file" to me :-)
