internet connection fails

I used to connect to my wireless network using wicd, but a short time after connecting, this filed with a bad password error.  I am now connecting manualy through the terminal and can connect, but after trying to install anything with pacman, i get the following error:

 failed retrieving file '<filename> from <mirrorname> : no address record 

I  get this for all the servers, and a subsequent ping test reveals that I am no longer connected to the internet

Did you already look into
  - /var/log/errors.log
  - /var/log/messages
  - /var/log/pm-...log

I have checked those, and I think this is the problem:
/var/log/pm-powersave.log:

 /usr/lim/pm-utils/power.d/sched-powersave false: success.
Running hook /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/wireless false:
Turning powersave for wlan0 off...Error for wireless request "Set Power Management" (8B2C) :
    SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.
Failed.
