Alright so I just recently ran an update and noticed that gparted was updated. Then I wanted to play with my disks and recieved this error while trying to execute gparted:
[tyler@myhost ~]$ sudo gparted
No protocol specified
(gpartedbin:5750): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0
I've tried just about EVERYTHING to try and get it to work and I'm pointing at the update that possibily broke it?
Are you guys have the save issue?

gparted is not currently in the testing repo, and the package was updated over a month ago.
Moving to Applications and Desktop Environments.
Also, gparted is working fine here. Are you sure your system is up to date?

Yes its up-to-date, this could possibly be a X server problem.

Try gksu gparted

Try gksu gparted
How exactly is that supposed to help him where sudo doesn't work?

Have you tried rebooting since or at least killing X and logging back in?
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

it would help because the default sudo configuration doesn't share any environment variables. gksu/gksudo is supposed to be used to run graphical applications as root.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I was under the impression that sudo did an 'su -e' in any case? Now that I test it out I can see that the env are different, but somehow it's never been a problem (DISPLAY is always set, for example, for me).

What happens if you type "xhost + " first, then sudo gparted ? I need to do this to use playonlinux as root (which is bad...)
