On my home network I have a PC named "TV" that holds all multimedia files. My router however is not very friendly and wants to allot it a different IP Address every time it connects (192.168.0.1 and so on...). This is all fine and dandy however recently I have become unable to ping my local devices! If I do a (ping TV) no host is found but if I ping its IP Address it works perfectly! I assume this is an issue with the DNS server but how do I go about fixing this and perhaps setting up my own custom DNS if my routers isn't sufficient.

Uhh, do a Google search on how to set a static IP or reserve an IP address for your computers with your particular router. Then edit your /etc/hosts file so you can ping by hostname. FYI, your router doesn't have a built-in DNS server. It resolves names with your ISP's DNS server.
