Hi! First post. I've got Arch installed and everything upgraded to the latest versions. I've installed KDE. So how come I'm not getting the latest versions in the repos? I'm getting my stuff from:
http://mirror.rit.edu/archlinux/
The kernel version listed under /core is 2.6.36, and the KDE version in /extra is 4.5.5. But what pacman installed was kernel 2.6.34 and KDE 4.4.5. Am I doing something wrong?

maybe the mirror is not updated. Use a different mirror.
Are you sure that rit.edu is the first mirror listed in your mirrorlist file? What mirror did you use during installation (if it was something else, it will be listed as the first one way up top in the file.)
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Are you using
sudo pacman -Syu
to update?
You could also try using rankmirror to get a better mirrorlist.

Did you remember to merge any .pacnew files? Especially pacman.conf.pacnew

the last I know, rankmirror doesn't work anymore after the change to a 3-tier system of mirrors.
But there is this : http://www.archlinux.org/mirrors/status/#successful
and this : http://www.archlinux.org/mirrorlist/

Found it... I accidentally uncommented another mirror along with the one I mentioned above... a mirror that was apparently not up to date. Oops. In my own defence I'm used to Slackware, and slackpkg simply doesn't work if more than one mirror is uncommented, so it never occurred to me to check that. Thanks!

Roman mentions 2-tier scheme. Did I miss another change or you just call the same thing differently?
Can you give some more details, links?

Okay, where's the tool to mark this thread as "solved"?

there is none
you just edit your first post and prepend [SOLVED] to your subject line.
