Can arch be used for amd based pc?

I asked previously if arch can be used for amd 64. How about amd xp processors like Athlon XP.

Anyone has any experience in running arch on top of amd based system?

Yes and yes.  The Athlon XP (K7) family of processors are considered i686 and  Athlon 64's (I guess you could say are i686 and x86_64) both work fine.  I've been using Arch on 3 different AMD based systems.  2 years on the Athlon XP 2500 and almost a year on 2 different Athlon 64 systems.  I've never run into a hardware related problem with Arch.

And here's the proof of k8:

uname -promis
Linux 2.6.10-ARCH i686 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+ AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

(I'm stuck on 2.6.10 because I'm dodging nvidia widescreen problems, it has nothing to do with the k8 chip)
